Farewell to Dr. Thuanny Rios and Celebration of Her Contributions to the Lab

We would like to share that Friday, March 13, 2026, marked the final day of Dr. Thuanny Rios in our lab. Following the successful completion of her J-1 visa program, Dr. Rios will be returning to Brazil. She will remain in Greensboro until Monday morning, departing later that afternoon.

Over the past ten months, since joining us in May 2025, Dr. Rios has been an exceptional member of our team. Her contributions have had a lasting impact on the growth and success of the lab. She played a key role in establishing new research infrastructure, attracting talented researchers, developing standard operating procedures, securing our first IBC approval, organizing and leading workshops, and advancing multiple scientific projects, including her own manuscripts.

Dr. Rios’s many contributions to the lab, JSNN, and NCAT are documented in our weekly updates, available on our website. We are deeply grateful for her dedication, professionalism, and collaborative spirit. We are thanking Dr. Rios for everything she has done for our team and wishing her continued success in her future endeavors. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Octavio Franco for his trust and support throughout this collaboration. Dr. Rios joined our lab with external funding from the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq) under Dr. Franco’s supervision, and we are thankful for this valuable partnership.
