Prof. Orlando Argüello-Miranda visits Oliveira Lab

On Friday, November 7th, we had the pleasure of hosting Prof. Orlando Argüello-Miranda, from the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology at North Carolina State University, as part of the JSNN Seminar Series – Fall 2025.

Prof. Argüello-Miranda delivered the talk “Generative AI-Driven Cell Biology”, addressing how artificial intelligence can be harnessed to interpret complex protein network dynamics within living cells. He explored the transformative role of generative time series models in facilitating real-time visualization and cellular tracking, an approach that may redefine the way we analyze molecular mechanisms and intracellular processes.

Following the seminar, Prof. Argüello-Miranda interacted with members of the Oliveira Lab, discussing potential research synergies, especially in the context of image-based biological analysis, microfluidic platforms, and advanced AI tools for dynamic cell behavior modeling. These discussions reinforced promising avenues for multidisciplinary collaboration. His insights during the visit provided valuable perspectives to our ongoing work at the intersection of bioengineering, microfluidics, and computational biology.

We are grateful for his visit and the inspiring discussions shared with our team. We look forward to future collaborations!
