Python for Bioengineers Workshop at Oliveira Lab

The Oliveira Lab hosted the 2nd Python for Bioengineers Workshop last Saturday, bringing together students and researchers for an immersive, hands-on experience that bridged biological insight with computational tools. The workshop opened with introductory sessions focused on how Python can be applied to analyze and interpret real-world biological data, led by members of the Oliveira Lab and our guest speaker, Dr. Tianqi Song.

The hands-on session enabled participants to actively engage with datasets, guiding them through simple yet powerful workflows to explore biological problems using Python. Attendees worked through practical examples, from analyzing physiological data to interpreting patterns and drawing biological conclusions, fostering both confidence and curiosity in computational approaches.

Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Oliveira Lab facilities, gaining exposure to ongoing research at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) and exploring how computational methods integrate with experimental workflows.

The workshop highlighted the lab’s commitment to interdisciplinary training, creating an environment where biological questions can be approached through data-driven thinking and computational exploration.

We thank all participants for contributing to an engaging and collaborative session.
