The Oliveira Lab is proud to share that Tolulope Oyeniran and Bukola Akindipe presented their research at the 24th Annual Central North Carolina ACS (CNC-ACS) Poster Vendor Night, hosted at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN) in Greensboro, NC on April 8, 2026.
Tolulope presented "Microfluidic-based Programmatic Control of Fluid Routing for Biological Network Systems," introducing a centralized multivalve microfluidic chip paired with a custom solenoid GUI that lets researchers program valve actuation and route fluids across networked bioreactors on demand.
Bukola presented "Partaker," a novel deep learning framework she has been developing in the lab to study single-cell bacterial dynamics. Partaker automates the segmentation and tracking of individual cells in time-lapse microscopy, turning hours of manual analysis into a streamlined, reproducible pipeline.
For both of them, this was their first conference presentation since joining the lab. They spent the evening fielding questions from faculty, industry scientists, and fellow students, defending their ideas, sharpening their explanations, and experiencing firsthand what it means to put your work into the world.
Congratulations, Tolu and Bukola. This is the first of many
