Nona Hashemi Presents at UNC’s First Friday Microbiome Seminar
We are proud to share that Nona Hashemi, Ph.D. candidate in Nanoengineering from the Oliveira Lab at North Carolina A&T State University, was invited to speak at the First Friday Microbiome (FFM) Seminar hosted by the UNC Microbiome Core on May 2nd.
Nona was thrilled to present alongside Dr. Lisa Karstens, Associate Professor at Oregon Health & Science University, in a seminar that spotlighted innovative research in the microbiome field.
Her talk, “Synthetic Beneficial Biofilms: Innovative Platforms for Diagnostics and Therapeutic Approach,” explored engineered microbial communities as powerful tools for disease detection and targeted therapy. This work reflects the Oliveira Lab’s mission to translate nanoengineering and synthetic biology into impactful biomedical solutions.
We thank the UNC Microbiome Core for the opportunity to participate in this engaging event and for fostering a strong, collaborative research community.
